The newest attraction at Safeco field is called The Pen. This happening hot spot is located next to the Mariner’s bullpen in centerfield, and opens two and a half hours before the game starts. The Pen is open to all ticket holders and offers amazing views, a fire pit, a cocktail lounge, and a bar with craft beers on tap.

As if atmosphere wasn’t enough, The Pen is also home to four amazing eateries that are owned and operated by some of Seattle’s super star chefs.

Hamburger + Frites

Chef Ethan Stowell opened this restaurant-quality hamburger joint that serves six-ounce grass-fed beef burgers and highly addictive frites with a garlic dipping sauce. If you’re more into seafood than red meat, try the fried oyster po’ boy. It’s a perfectly fried Taylor Farms oyster served on a pioneer bun with a spicy rémoulade.

La Crêperie

Another of Chef Stowell’s creations, La Crêperie serves authentic Parisian crepes with your choice of sweet or savory filling. You can choose from locally sourced meat, fruit, and veggies, or handmade cheese. This is a great option if you’re looking for a little something different during the game.

Tortugas Voladuras

Chef Roberto Santibañez launched this restaurant that offers Mexican sandwiches called Tortugas. You can choose from delicious fillings like braised pork, slow-cooked beef, or chicken. If you’re looking for something a little lighter, they also have chips and fresh guacamole.

Apizza

This isn’t your typical greasy slice of pie. This thin crust delight is cooked with a specially designed gas oven that gives you the perfect crunchy crust, every time. You can choose from classics like pepperoni, made from locally sourced meat, or go for a vegetarian white pizza.

ricenroll

If you’re leaning toward something light and fresh, the ricenroll spicy tuna roll is a Seattle Mariners staple. It was voted the best stadium food by a New York Times’ columnist. The menu offers various noodle dishes, salads, and sushi rolls. There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options available as well.

Field Roast

Field Roast is a vegan Frankfurter brand that now has its own dedicated stand at Safeco field. If you’re craving a classic hotdog but you want to keep up your vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, this is the dog for you.

Some of their most popular creations include the Seattle Chili Dog, which is covered in vegetarian chili and cream cheese, and the Ichiban, with teriyaki glazed onions, daikon, seaweed, and a creamy sauce. The blend of natural ingredients and exciting flavors is a home run among both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Mariners fans.

The next time you head out for a Mariners game at Safeco field, don’t settle for the standard fare. Try one of these exciting spins on your favorite ballpark food. What’s your favorite thing to eat during the game?
